FAQ: How much realtime clock shift can the Ultra Messaging library tolerate with no impact to UM protocols?
Answer
The Ultra Messaging (UM) library is not affected by a realtime clock shift of 3 milliseconds or less every 100 milliseconds.

Time shifts which are greater than 3 milliseconds in a 100 millisecond interval can affect UM protocols whose timers are based on the realtime clock.

More Information
There are a number of reasons that the realtime clock on a given host system can be adjusted.  For example, for the occasional realtime clock update due to leap seconds.

We have seen problems reported with the behavior of the UM protocols when time synchronization applications experience an issue and rapidly changes the current realtime clock setting on host systems.
