FAQ: Additional details about AES_DECRYPT and AES_ENCRYPT functions regarding cipher algorithms and padding used internally
Answer
Please explain the following questions.

1. If it is possible to confirm which AES algorithm combination is used for cipher and padding?
2. In the case of CBC, how is the initialization vector value being calculated?

Answer

AES_ENCRYPT function uses 128-bit AES, zero paddings, and CBC.

A feature request (CR 205205) has been created to enhance the AES_ENCRYPT function to accept more arguments like the padding techniques.

AES_DECRYPT is designed to work with AES_ENCRYPT.
If you are using AES_DECRYPT when the encryption was done externally, then we recommend using JAVA Transformation so that you can code your decryption logic.
