HOW TO: Use SQL expressions in a Source Qualifier
Solution
To use a column with an expression in a Source qualifier
  1. Add a port to the SQ for each column in the SQL using an Expression.
    This port must have the following qualifications:
    • The name of the port must match the alias given in the SQL expression
    • The datatype and size must match the datatype and size of the output of the SQL expression.
    • The position in the Source Qualifier of the port must match the position of the SQL expression in the SELECT clause
  2. Add the SQL Override to the Source Qualifier.
  3. Connect the port to the next transform.
Example

To use an expression to sum two fields, F1 and F2 inasource table, T1 and include this sum in a mapping do the following:

  1. Enter the SQL override:

    SELECT F1, F2, F1+F2 AS F3 FROM T1

  2. Add a column to the source definition with the same (or compatible) datatype and precision and call it "F3":
