FAQ: How does a TCT affect PowerCenter real-time sessions?

In a real-time session, the real-time reader issues the commit and acknowledges on the basis of messages. If any other component, like Transaction Control transformation (TCT) in the mapping, is allowed to issue the commit, then the reader will not have control on when the commit is issued and when to acknowledge the messages.

Real-time reader allows specifying the commit interval such as the number of messages or a time interval in which it can issue the commit.

Generally, TCT is useful if the transaction is to be controlled through the means of data (like, an ID change or some special message to issue commit). If it is not one of these cases, then the user can use the commit interval or time interval.
