HOW TO: Generate Informatica log files using the command line
Solution

The InfaLogs utility is delivered with the base product installation and is available in the installation directory under the Tools directory.

UNIX

To create a zip file containing Informatica logs available on a UNIX server machine, do the following:

  1. Set the INFA_HOME environment variable to the Informatica installation directory.

    Example

    setenv INFA_HOME /home/Informatica/10.1.1
  2. Set JAVA_HOME to Java root directory.

    Example

    setenv JAVA_HOME /home/Informatica/10.1.1/java
    Note
Java version should be 1.6 or later. For AIX, HP-UX, Java is not bundled with Informatica installer. Set the JAVA_HOME to the location where Informatica suggested Java version is installed.

  3. From the Informatica Home (INFA_HOME) directory, do the following:
    cd $INFA_HOME/tools/debugtools/infaLogs
  4. Give Execute permissions to the files:
    chmod 755 *
  5. Run StartInfaLogs.sh:

    Syntax

StartInfaLogs.sh -o 'zipOutputDirectory' [-un domain_user] [-pd domain_pass] [-hp host:port] [-sd startDate] [-ed endDate]

    Example

    ./StartInfaLogs.sh -o /home/username/temp -un Administrator -pd Administrator -hp ironwood:16005 -sd 03/26/2013 -ed 03/28/2013
When prompted for the services, select the last numbered option to extract all the logs.

  1. Set the INFA_HOME environment variable.

    set INFA_HOME=C:\Informatica\10.1.1
  2. Set JAVA_HOME to Java root directory.

    Example

    set JAVA_HOME C:\Informatica\10.1.1\java

    cd C:\Informatica\10.1.1\tools\debugtools\infaLogs
  4. Run StartInfaLogs.bat.

    Syntax

StartInfaLogs.bat -o 'zipOutputDirectory' [-un domain_user] [-pd domain_pass] [-hp host:port] [-sd startDate] [-ed endDate]
