HOW TO: Convert JSON file to a relational data using Informatica Developer Client

Before creating anything, ensure to have Model Repository Service and Data Integration Service in your node. 

Proceed to Step (ii) if you have already configured MRS and DIS and have created a project.

Step (i)

Do the following:
  1. Create Model Repository Service (MRS) and Data Integration Service (DIS) in your node to use the Developer Client tool.
  2. Open Developer Client, Click File >Connect to Repository >Configure Domains, Click Add > Test Connection > Finish.
  3. Select the Domain listed, click ok. Now, select the running MRS.
  4. Double-click the MRS listed in the Object Explorer. Provide the username and password.
  5. Select MRS, Right-click, New > Project Provide the Project name and privileges, and click Finish.

Step (ii)

  1. Select the Project. Right-click the project > New > Other > type FlatFile, and select Flat File Data Object, and Click Next

    1. Use the Input file, Input.txt that contains the absolute path of the actual input file.
    2. In this case, there is /home/bnayak/IS_01891635_bolt_10.0.0_64/10.0.0/tomcat/bin/source/New_Sample.json as input without double quotes.
    3. Click Next twice. In the Delimiter section, check space, Click Next Finish.
    4. Make sure there are no Delimiters, clear comma and check others, and type %%
    5. Place your Input.txt in the $INFA_HOME/tomcat/bin/source PowerCenter Server location.

    Configu​re these properties of the Flat File:


  2. Select and Right-click Project, New > Other > Data Processor > Next, Provide the name and Select a Create a Data Processor using wizard, select JSON as input and Relational Data as output. Provide the sample json file (New_Sample.json & sample json schema New_Schema.json which is attached in the attachment section. Click Finish.
    After creating Data Processor, make sure you have following properties configured :

  4. Drag your target object to the mapping (may be a relational/flat file). In this case, you have selected and right-clicked Project, New > Other > Flat File Data Object/Next. Provide the connection details. If you have not configured the connection for the database, create a new one or use any existing connection.
  5. Create a new expression transformation and configure it to have three columns:


  6. Create a new mapping by selecting a project. Right-click New >Mapping and provide the name. Map the links as follows:

The above mapping has the same targets. You can now take each field and customize where the data flow should be considered.

Run the mapping and get the Output.
