HOW TO: Enable or Disable HTTPS authentication in Axon
Solution

Overview

If you did not select HTTPS authentication while installing Axon Data Governance, you can enable HTTPS authentication after the installation is complete. Similarly, if you selected HTTPS authentication while installing Axon, you can disable HTTPS and start using HTTP authentication.

Enable or Disable HTTPS Authentication

If you want to enable HTTPS authentication, keep the following information ready:
  • HTTPS port number on which the Axon server will run
  • SSL certificate file
  • SSL key file in the .key format
To enable or disable HTTPS authentication, go to the <INSTALLATION_DIR>/bin directory, and perform the following tasks:
  1. Run the sh shutdown.sh command to shut down the Axon instance.
  2. To enable HTTPS authentication, run the following command:
    sh enablehttps.sh <HTTPS_port> <SSL_certificate_file_path> <SSL_key_file_path>
  3. To disable HTTPS authentication, run the following command:
    sh disablehttps.sh <HTTP_port>
  4. Run the sh startup.sh command to start all Axon services.
  5. Verify that all Axon services are running properly. Log in to Axon as an administrator, go to the Admin Panel, and view the Admin Dashboard. The Status of Axon Services section shows the services that are operational.
If your organization uses Single Sign-On (SSO) for the Axon users, you must update the Axon URL in the Identity Provider (IDP). Enter http or https in the SSO domain URL and audience URL. For more information on configuring Axon in the IDP, see the Configure Axon Details for the New Application in the IDP topic in the Configuring Axon chapter of the Axon Data Governance 5.3 Administrator Guide.
Note

When you enable or disable HTTPS authentication, the Axon services are restarted. The Axon web interface might be briefly disrupted for some users that are logged into Axon. Perform this action during a maintenance period when very few users are using Axon.
