HOW TO: Configure Single Sign-On Using SAML Header
Solution
You can configure Single Sign-On (SSO) for Axon users by specifying a SAML header value for authentication. When you use SAML Header for authentication, you do not have to configure Axon in an Identity Provider (IDP).

A SAML header is an alternative authentication mechanism to IDP configuration. If you configure SSO using an IDP, do not configure SSO using a SAML header. If you configure SSO using a SAML header, you can ignore the Axon fields where you enter the SAML assertion values from the IDP.

Note: If you configure Axon to use a SAML header value and the SAML assertion values from the IDP, Axon configures SSO using the SAML header value.

Obtain the SAML header value from the IT department of your organization.

To configure SSO using a SAML header, log in to Axon as a SuperAdmin, and perform the following steps:
  1. From the Axon toolbar, click the Admin Panel menu item under your user name.
  2. In the menu on the left, under the Customize & Configure category, click Configure Axon.
  3. In the Group drop-down, select SAML Configuration.
  4. Click Edit.
  5. In the SAML Header field, enter the SAML header value.
  6. Click Save.
  7. In the Linux environment, run the following command to clear the contents of the cache directory:
    rm -rf <INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY>/axonhome/axon/app/cache/*
  8. Go to the <INSTALLATION_DIR>/axonhome/third-party-app/scripts directory, and run the following commands to restart the Memcached and HTTPD services:
    sh memcached restart
    sh httpd restart

Troubleshooting

If you enter the SAML header value in the SAML Header key incorrectly, Axon will not load in the browser. To fix the issue, perform the following steps:
  1. In the Linux environment, run the following command to define the Axon environment variable:
    . <INSTALLATION_DIR>/scripts/exportEnv.sh
  2. Go to the <INSTALLATION_DIR>/axonhome/axon directory, and run the following command to disable SSO:
    <INSTALLATION_DIR>/axonhome/third-party-app/php/bin/php app/console informatica:sso-disable
  3. In Axon, make sure that the value of the SAML header is entered correctly.
