HOW TO: Configure a file system data store on S@S 4.5 to scan files on a Windows server
In Secure @ Source (S@S) 4.5, you could scan files on a Windows server for sensitive information. Create a data store of type 'File System' and follow the instructions below:
  • File protocol: 'SMB/CIFS'
  • User: the user who has access to the shared files in the windows server. If you have AD account, specify the username in this format: 'Domain\UserName'
  • Password: password for the above user account
  • Physical Location: is not a mandatory field and could be ignored
  • Host: host name or IP of the windows server where the files to be scanned are present
  • Path: path of the directory to be scanned. For eg: if the shared path is "\\HostName\FolderToBeScanned", you should mention "\FolderToBeScanned" in the path field
Fill the above mandatory fields with appropriate details, test the connection and save the data store.
Then you could create a scan and run the scan job to identify sensitive data in it.
