“[R303672] JAVA error in preProcessor: Failed to call a method. Java exception message” while running a parser that uses ExcelToXml pre-processor
Problem Description

While running a parser that uses ExcelToXML or ExceltoDataXML pre-processor, the following error is displayed:

[R303672] JAVA error in preProcessor: Failed to call a method. Java exception message:
[R303583] org.apache.poi.itemfield.hssf.write.ExcelToXml: function process failed.
[R3033136]: Failure while pre-processing

Cause

The error occurs due to any of the following:

  • The source Excel file is very large. This is a memory allocation issue.
  • The Excel workbook is password protected. Excel spreadsheet that is password protected at workbook level is not supported by Data Transformation.
Solution

To resolve the issue, do the following:

For Memory allocation issue:
  1. Go to Start > Informatica > Data Transformation >Configuration.
  2. Add JVM init parameter, -Xmx512M as shown in the image.

  3. The following entry will now be seen in the CMConfig.xml file:

    <JVMInitParamList>
    <InitParam>-Xmx512M</InitParam>
    </JVMInitParamList>

  4. Re-open the studio and then run the parser using CM_console or studio.
For password protected issue:

Modify the Excel file to make it password protected at sheet level.
