Error "ssacs_Spawn: spawned program 'D:\InformaticaIR\bin\idsinit' failed" when trying to connect to IIR Console Client in the Admin mode
Problem Description

When trying to connect to IIR console client in the Admin mode, the following error occurs:

Cause

This error occurs when IIR Console cannot connect to the rulebase because the rulebase is running on the Oracle database and the schema used for rulebase is locked by the Oracle server.

Solution

To resolve this issue, do the following:

First check whether dblist runs successfully (version 2.7 onwards) steps mentioned below could be followed to run the dblist utility.

1. Setup environment variables using the script files idsenvs or ssaset for 2.7.x and isss for 2.8.x and above. Then run
Dblist -c -dodb:99:uname/pword@service

Should show something like:

Maximum connections per module: 1024
Linked databases: sdb: odb:
Driver Manager: 'Identity Systems ODBC Driver Manager 1.2.2.31'
ODBC Driver: 'SQLSRV32.DLL'
DBMS Name: 'Microsoft SQL Server (08.00.0194)'
Native DB type: 'msq'
*** Connection successful ***

If the dblist utility does not provide the results as above then, verify the messages displayed by the utility on the console and try to resolve the same. If the environment is a non-production one then, below steps could be followed to verify whether the rulebase works fine.

  1. Verify whether the Oracle rulebase schema is locked by Oracle server. To verify, run the IIR server in the config mode. Connect to the IIR Console Client in the Admin mode to get information on whether the Console client could connect to the rulebase. The IIR Console will show information as follows.

  1. With the help of an Oracle DBA unlock the locked Oracle account and then verify whether the connectivity to the Oracle schema works fine through SQL PLUS.
  2. Close all the IIR clients.
  3. Then shutdown the IIR server using idsdown
  4. Start the IIR server using idsup
  5. Start the IIR Console Client in the Admin mode.
More Information
When running IIR/ISS in Config mode, the default rulebase number used is 0 and ids database is 1. If you have other systems defined in that rulebase or database they will be deleted so you will need to recreate them after the tests.
