Problem Description

Informatica infasetup RestoreDomain command fails with the following error:

[ICMD_10033] Command [RestoreDomain] failed with error [[INFASETUP_10039] Cannot restore the domain because of the following error: [RSVCSHARED_00021] Internal error. Failed to get a repository connection unique ID for the following reason: ['hostname: hostname']. Contact Informatica Global Customer Support..].

This issue occurs when the gateway host is not able to resolve to the correct IP address in the Domain Name System (DNS) or when there is an issue with the hosts file.

One possible reason is when there are multiple entries for the same IP in the /etc/hosts file and the environment does not do a DNS resolution and the resolution is routed through /etc/hosts file.

Example host

To resolve this issue, ensure that the DNS lookup and reverse DNS lookup (Host > IP and IP Host) resolutions are set correctly for the server machine hosing the Informatica node process.

In the case of the multiple entries in the host file remove the second entry so that only one entry exisits for the IP address.
