FAQ: Are rejected rows written to the session log and reject file when a PowerCenter session is configured with the Forward Rejected Rows option?
Problem Description

When using an Update Strategy transformation does the Forward Rejected Rows option cause the rows to be written to the session log or the reject file?
Also if DD_REJECT is assigned to the row how does it affect what is done with the row?

Cause
Solution

This chart summarizes results for rows assigned a DD_REJECT status in an Update Strategy transformation:

Forward Reject Rows Enabled

Session Logging Level

Normal

Terse

Rejected records written to bad file Yes Yes
Reject information in session log Yes Yes
Session summary includes failed record count Yes Yes

Forward Reject Rows Disabled

Session Logging Level

Normal

Terse

Rejected records written to bad file No No
Reject information in session log Yes No

To prevent the DD_REJECT rows from being written to the session log you can clear the Forward Reject Rows option and set the logging level in the session to Terse.
