PowerCenter randomly hangs in the environment
Problem Description

The environment randomly hangs and, after reviewing all the log files, no error message has been reported.

The node.log has the following message:

2012-10-01 05:18:16,199 INFO  [Domain Monitor] [DOM_10067] The domain functionality [LogServiceAgent] has been enabled.
2012-10-01 05:18:35,684 INFO  [Thread 6 of 6 in DomainServiceThreadPool] [SPC_10018] Request to start process for service [_AdminConsole] was successful.
2012-10-01 21:41:03,595 INFO  [main] [NODE_10020] Initializing node configuration for Informatica services version [9.1.0 HotFix4], build [1,808].
2012-10-01 21:41:03,595 INFO  [main] [NODE_10018] Loading the node configuration metadata from configuration file [D:\Informatica\IPC\isp\config\nodemeta.xml].

As the message indicates, there is no shutdown message. It was restarted around 21:41 when boucing Informatica PowerCenter services (Windows services).

The catalina.out file shows the same information, no error message and a restart.

Cause

This issue could be caused when you have a high number of PowerCenter services and continue to use JVMMaxMemory Windows registry parameter as default value (512m).

Solution

To resolve this issue, go to regedit [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Informatica9.1.0\Parameters], select JVMMaxMemory parameter and increase the value.

For information on settings, see HOW TO: Optimally set the Maximum Heap Size for a domain (141448)

A PowerCenter services restart is required in order to take effect.
