ERROR: "Msg:ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE" when running InitialSync for the first time after installing the Oracle database in IDR
Problem Description
In Informatica Data Replication (IDR), when running InitialSync for the first time after installing the Oracle database, the following error is seen:
Msg:ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
The complete log for the Initial Sync process is as follows:

Sync using a database link.
Transferring: SRC.TAB1 -> TGT.TAB1
Error:otl_exception Code:3114
Msg:ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
Total duration is 10 seconds

​This issue could be caused due to the following reasons:

  • The Listener process is not running.
  • There is a missing entry to the tnsnames.ora.
  • There are network issues.
  • There are problems with connection pooling (shared servers, MTS)

​To resolve this issue, ensure that the Oracle Listener is started and also that the tnsnames.ora contains the entry. Then perform the InitialSync process.
