"Concatenation disallowed on transformation" when attempting to link a port in a PowerCenter mapping
Problem Description
When attempting to link one port in one transformation to another transformation in a PowerCenter mapping, the link is not created and the following message appears:

Concatenation disallowed on transformation <Transformation_Name>.Message. Active transformations (<trans_name1, trans_name2>...)

Cause

This error occurs when attempting to connect an output from one transformation to another transformation that already has an input from another active transformation.
The error is a warning of a design mistake.

Solution
Each active transformation must be connected to separate transformations (including target) for the mapping to be valid.

More Information

Example

If one input to an Update Strategy, writes 100 rows, and another input writes 50 rows, the Update transformation will be unable to determine which row to update.
